The Colonnade is committed to ensuring that its operations take into account the possible impacts on the environment. We operate the Business in an environmentally sensitive manner by conserving energy, water and natural resources. We implement all best practice recommendations issued by Considerate Hoteliers, the industry's leading advisory board.

Green policies are reviewed on a regular basis, adjusting where necessary and keeping abreast of current environmental legislation.

The following policies and procedures are in place at The Colonnade:

• The Green Team committee meets monthly and ensures as much recycling is carried out by the hotel as possible.
• Raising the environmental awareness of all staff, so that everyone may be involved.
• Messages in all the bathrooms to encourage guests to reuse their towels. This will reduce the use of chemicals as well as contribute to a reduction in water usage and other utilities.
• The hotel always endeavors to source local products whenever possible, to minimize its carbon footprint.
• Tap water is filtered, and then provided on a complimentary basis for guests on turndown, this means that we do not waste mineral water bottles.
• Environmentally friendly low temperature cleaning products are used in the laundry; this will not only improve the quality of the hotel linen, but reduces the temperature that the washing machines clean at, thus reducing the amount of energy being used.
• Reducing Energy Usage by increased Energy Efficiency. By 2010 the hotel is striving to replace all lights with energy saving light bulbs and to stop all taps from leaking to save water.
• Re-using or recycling waste when possible.
• Using raw materials in a manner that reduces waste.

The Colonnade will aim for Continuous Improvement and will update its Environmental Statement in twelve months.
